What Can I Use Instead of Bubble Wrap?

Bubble wrap is the perfect packing material. It’s light, durable, protective, cheap, and can be used in a large variety of ways. I mean, they call it bubble wrap for a reason. You can wrap it around items, place it around the interior walls of a box, or use it to separate layers in a box. This magical material also absorbs impact well.

And there’s something oddly satisfying in sitting idly by with a sheet and popping them one-by-one.

Or is that just me?

Okay, okay. That’s just wasteful. And most of us already know what makes bubble wrap so great. But let’s face it, bubble wrap is made from plastic which isn’t environmentally friendly, and our poor aquatic friends suffer the most for it.

But what do you use instead? What do we do if we want to protect our valuables in an eco-friendly way?

Believe it or not, there are other options that work just as well, if not better, than bubble wrap. Here are three curbside recyclable and naturally biodegradable options…

1.    Corrugated Bubble Wrap

2.    Flexi-Hex Air Sleeve

3.    Kraft Paper

Corrugated Bubble Wrap is made from recycled cardboard and works well for separating layers or padding the box for extra cushioning. Ecoenclose offers 100% recycled corrugated bubble wrap in custom sizes and thicknesses.

Flexi-Hex air is made of paper and uses a honeycomb pattern to protect the fragile items within—perfect for wrapping bottles. The bottle slides in easily, and it's virtually indestructible. We dropped a wrapped mug from five feet onto concrete and it didn't make a dent!

Kraft paper is the simplest filler material, but often the most effective. Buy a roll dispenser, then rip the perfect size to stuff your box, protecting the valuables inside.

Replacing bubble wrap isn’t as hard as it may seem. You can get the same level of protection (or better) for your items, without breaking the bank or harming the environment. Try these alternatives. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
